Ecologic Policy Reforms in Uzbekistan

On 19 November 2025, two new Presidential acts were adopted to reshape environmental policy and reinforce the Government’s focus on ecology and climate.
Key reforms include:
📌 New National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change, reporting directly to Parliament and the President
📌 Formation of a specialised Ecopolice with stronger enforcement powers
📌 Phase-out of all incentives and exemptions from environmental compensation payments
📌 Public veto mechanism to block repurposing of tree-covered land
📌 Stricter compliance rules, higher sanctions and mandatory monitoring for Category I–II enterprises
